BENEFITS OF DRY FRUITS, SWEET AND SOUR DRY FRUITS CHUTNEY

Dry fruits are most important things to boost immunity power of our body. At this pandemic situation we are fighting with different viruses and we are anxious about this. We eat various fresh fruits and vegetables for our health. Dry fruits like dates, black raisins, sweet tamarinds, plums (aloo Bukhara) are so helpful for our healthy body.

I thought about to cook dry fruits chutney (because I love any chutney, it is my first liking.)

First I want to discuss about the benefits of dry fruits with you.

DATES: Dates are fruit of date palm tree. It is very nutritious. Dates are high in fiber which is important

for overall health. These are full of disease fighting antioxidants, several minerals and vitamins.

There are 3 important antioxidants in dates. These are flavonoids, carotenoids, phenolic acid.

Dates are healthy substitute of white sugar in some recipes due to sweet taste.

BLACK RAISINS: Black raisins are full of antioxidants, reduce acidity (straightens the digestive system), prevent

osteoporosis, fight against cancer cells and lower risk of heart disease (maintain cardiovascular health). Soaked

black raisins in water are blood purifiers and boost immunity system. They are high in sugar and calories but as

contain low glycemic index helpful for blood sugar, protects from bad cholesterol, prevents from anemia and

insomnia. It is rich in vitamins and minerals (potassium calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, sodium) also, acts as laxative.

SWEET TAMARIND: Sweet tamarind pulp is the power house of antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, E, K,

and B6), minerals like magnesium, phosphorus, calcium. It improves digestive system and solve

abdominal problems, have immunity boosting properties, manages diabetes, help to reduce heart related issues keeps your bone strong and can help lower your blood pressure

.ALOO BUKHARA:  Prunes are actually the dried version of European plums and are also known as

dried plum. In India, the prune (both dried and fresh) is known as Aloo Bukhara in Hindi. It is well

known as plum, good for eye health, prevents from constipation, reduces risk of heart diseases. It

improves immune system, slowdown aging process and effective killers of breast cancer.

Now I am sharing with you my favorite dry fruits chutney recipe …..

INGREDIENTS: 1) Dates, sweet tamarind (peel off the skin and take only seeds), black raisins, aloo Bokhara---equal amount.

2) sugar--- according to your taste.

3) Dry roasted whole cumin seeds --- 1 ½ teaspoons.( it should be half dust or crushed)

4) For tempering--- dry red chili (1 or 2), whole mustard seeds (1 ½ teaspoons)

5) White oil--- 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

HOW TO MAKE: Wash all dry fruits properly and soak for 10 minutes.  Keep a pan on oven. Pour

white oil in it. Add whole mustard seeds, dry red chili. Wait for 2 minutes for a flavored aroma. Now

add all dry fruits and sauté it. Add little required salt, ginger in it. After 8 to 10 minutes pour sugar and

stir. Wait for thick consistency when it fully boiled. Keep watching that it will remain in their (dry

fruits) own shape.

Take out from gas; add flavored dust dry roasted cumin seeds on it. This chutney is so yummy and mouth watering as well as healthy one.

I am very happy to share it with you because I really love it. You may take it during lunch or dinner

also. If you are health conscious you can prepare it with jaggery powder instead of sugar.
